Vernacular type with Dave

This workshop was very cool..We were asked to produce our own font.To make my own font was always on top and this workshop was perfect opportunity. My first inspiration came up by using shapes out of London trees but then I wasn't very happy with it next I thought to use a tube symbol and this wasn't right for me either. That day my head was spinning and I found it really hard to focus. Anyway I'm still thinking about it and hopefully soon I come up with something nice.

Statistic Workshop with Jo

The brief was to discover different ways of communicating statistics – graphically, by hand.

We looked at this information, breaking it down and making some visual representations of the date we have gathered. We were doing this using a fun, cutting and sticking process.

The aim of this exercise was to visually represent information gathered in a graphical and interesting way. The outcome had to be hand made and be visually interesting.

I was in a group with Elena and we were discovering statistic on how many buses pass through Elephant and Castle. We looked at every bus stop around the roundabout in Elephant and Castle and wrote the buses numbers down . We found out that there were lots off buses going to different destinations .The time journey till each bus finished it's journey was from 10 mins up to 60 mins from E&C .

Van Doesburg exhibition at Tate Modern

Wow this exhibition was to me the best ever. Theo van Doesburg was one of the leading figures in the development of geometric abstraction. A highly versatile artist in his own right, he was also the founder and chief spokesman of De Stijl group, and edited the magazine of the same name. This exhibition explores his role within the international avant-garde not only through his own work - as artist, designer, writer and editor - but also that of the artist he promoted, collaborated with, learned from and influenced.
I was pleased to see De Stijl bits and typography which was amazing. I was also very suprised by one piece made by one czech artist (Vitezlav Nezval) called Abeceda as I learned about him at school as being writer and member of the avant-garde group of artists Devetsil (Nine Forces). But we only read his books. essays etc and I have never seen his work or understand the subject. It made me proud to see his work in Tate ;o)....
