"I LOVE IT WHEN YOU ASK ACTORS, 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW?' AND THEY SAY, 'I AM BETWEEN ROLES.' TO BE LIVING 'LIFE BETWEEN ROLES,' THAT IS MY FAVORITE."

TES ONE

After talking to Ben at school I checked an artist called TESONE (Leon Bedore) and absolutely fell in love with his work.

The 32-year- old, known for his over sized artworks painted on wood box prames, incorporates a fusion of graffiti-style murals and graphic design in his piece. The Tampa artist was born and raised in St. Petersburg. A son of artist - who shared coloring books with his mom and kid - he graduated from Gibbs High in 1996. Although he was part of the school notable Pinellas County Centre for Arts program, he considers himself self-thought.

He started painting graffiti around Tampa bay in 1992, and like most illegal painters, he used spray paint. His technique has evolved, and these days his work have moved from train tracks and abandoned corners of the Sunshine state into galleries and, at least while his portrait of Barack Obama (done for the campain's Manifest Hope show) is on loan to the White House. His work has always dealt with environmental issues, but this is his first foray into politics.

Morning fun with Kellogg's

In my work as a nanny I look after a boy called Tom (4yrs) and Maddie (12yrs). They are both off school this week for holidays. This morning Tom asked me to draw him a fly so he could annoy his sister. I noticed earlier that he finished a box of cereal. I started to draw a fly inside of the box but changed my mind and made him a quick 3D fly then later added a snail. Tom was very pleased but Maddie wasn't amused as her brother was buzzing around her head all day long Ha Ha Ha.

Process Workshop

This session was all about looking at and discussing how process of collage can generate ideas for projects as well as produce interesting images that communicated in unusual and surprising ways.
We were asked to make a collage in 10 mins on a chosen theme out of 10. We discussed how important is spacing and also how to improve a system for speeding up and making the process of producing a collage more reliant on chance and automation.
I found this workshop very inspiring and motivating for my own work.

Peter Coffin
Untitled
(Spiral Staircase ) 2007
aluminium and steel

So now what can u think of when you looking at it? All I could think of was weather it would be possible to climb around it?! I say definitely...so want to try it!

Eric and Heather ChanSchatz
PTG 75 and 9
Screening on silk 2007

These two pieces were definitely my favorite. It has a bit psychedelic effect on me by using rich colors and interesting shapes. I found myself wondering and thinking what it looks like. Very positive vibe shining through the works.

Kristina Baker
The raft Of Perseus 2006
acrylic on PVC

I like this painting more on the picture than in a real life. I found the painting a bit disturbing at the gallery maybe because it was placed in a room with kind of same type of painting and i felt like drowning. Would be good to go back and see it again.

White painting 2009
Mark Bradford
mixed media on canvas

I like the technique which has been used otherwise it was too white for me... I know it's called white painting!

Kryptonite 2006
Mark Bradford
mixed media collage on paper

I quite liked this collage as I'm a big fun of squares but must say that i didn't like the circles found them completely unnecessary there.

Greeting cards
Aaron Young

- the making of this piece was staged as a performance: 6 plywood panels were laid out on the floor then stained and painted with layers of yellow, pink, orange and red, and covered wiyh final coat of jet black
- a gang of bikers then rallied on its surface, created in the dark with only bike headlights illuminating the action

Sterling Ruby
Kiss Trap Kismet 2008

- very very red piece, looks like blood, feel of aggression, makes you want to touch it and lick it ;o)

The Saatchi Gallery

ABSTRACT AMERICA: new painting and sculpture
On Sunday Elena and I went to Saatchi Gallery to check an abstract exhibition. A group exhibition featuring 35 American artists that represent a new generation of painters and sculptors. The artists are influenced by new digital age with pieces that combine Photoshop, Tv, the internet and other contemporary influences. The exhibition was quite interesting we could see wide variety of media (screen print, mixed media, painting, sculpture...). Also the Saatchi gallery is an amazing, spacious and relaxed place with lots of white walls where you are allowed to take pictures.

My first school day at LCC - FdA Design for graphic Communication 2009/11

It was Tuesday the 6th of October 10.30 am and I found myself in a room with completely strangers, well, I have seen few of them before but never had a chance to talk to them. I was a bit nervous and didn't really know what to expect from the lesson but after our teachers split us into 3 groups ( around 20 students in each group ) things started to be interesting. We have been asked to go through several exercises where we could interact with each other. One of our tasks was to talk about our knowledge of the Elephant&Castle area. We all had a good chat about it and I found out some new things about E&C area. Another task was to take a picture of something in a classroom. I really enjoyed this exercise because some pictures we have taken were very interesting and admirable. I chat to lots of students through the day and I found everybody very friendly. I enjoyed my first day at school very much and hopefully it is going to be like this for the rest of my time at LCC ;o).
