Typography workshop

At Typo workshop we talked about different typefaces and how developed over time. Then as an exercise we had to choose one face type and trace our name on a paper. The next exercisewas to choose a letter, choose an interesting part on it and then trace the letter in different fonts. In my case it was a of a letter B. I have notice that it's different in each case. It was very interesting work shop an I would love to have more workshops like this!

Storytelling Workshop

What a crazy workshop!!!!!? A sculptor and artist called Jesse Wine came to school to talk to us about how we can tell a visual story using found objects. Then each group had to made a sculpture or make up a story with five objects from the Pound shop. I was in a team with Kristina a we got a bottle, carrot, strings, cowboy hat.... As soon as we saw the bottle we knew what the story is going to be about.. Well have a look yourself ;o)

Cropping Workshop

Cropping an image can alter the viewer's reading of that image by selecting and editing, zooming in or out and changing the format of an image. At he workshop we received 10 images and by photoshop we had to manipulate them to produce different crops. Then we had to annotate images by using the lateral and creative thinking strategy tool 'Plus/Minus/Interesting' + - i.

Wide Angle Horizontal
+...the focus is more on the people rather than what is happening in the background
-...we can't no longer see how people live
i...the cut has changed the whole feel of the picture

Close up detail
+...the detail of a ring which we wouldn't normally notice
-... we can't see whose hand it is anymore
i... the pic became a bit arty

Narrow vertical
+... the boy is very interesting face expression our eyes can focus on him more without the background
-... the boy is taking exactly half of the image, it should be less or more
i...the unusual proportion of the cut

Bold Exciting
+...nice close up to the girls face
-... we cant see her beautiful body anymore
i...it looks like the girl is looking out of the window

Discreet
+...the position of the hand is well placed
-...might seem a bit uninteresting for somebody
i...makes you want to see the whole picture

Emotional Impact
+...we can almost hear t
-...we can't see where the baby is, not a great cut
i...nothing really

Make look distant
+...those few people stand out from the crowd now
-...the main character of the picture is not there
i... the position of the people and the road is well balanced

Depersonalise
+...we can still see an action
-...the camera has been cut out so we don't really know what the person is doing
i...interesting cut

Abstract
+...pleasant for the eye, a bit of contrast
-...not sure what it is
i...the reflection

Narrow vertical
+...we can still see ball and the footballer
-...cant see
i...the angle of the cut, only a little part of the pic and we can still have an idea what is going on, makes you want to lean on one side when looking at it

Define
+...we can clearly see what that the girl is writing
-...we can't see the action of the boy
i...nothing much

Happy b'day to meeeeeee!

Today is my birthday. I feel a bit sad as I can't share them with my family. But having good friends around make things different. I am a very lucky girl to have them. Thank you ;o)..
